Hopscotch

Hopscotch is a wonderful collection of short stories from Faiza Qureshi, a senior educator working at a top university in the United Arab Emirates. Currently working towards her PhD, Fazia wrote this book with an aim to encourage reading among the younger creatives. Drawing from her imagination and entwined with stories her grandfather had recounted from growing up in India, and the partition of 1947, the reader is immersed in the gritty realism of the era and the areas. However, it doesn’t stop there; Faiza’s intricate weaving of dialogue and passionate love of the region conjures scenes that are alive with the colours, the smells and the tastes of the places she takes you. Her stories are wonderfully constructed  and are perfect for the young enquiring minds that want to venture into the realms of the fantastic and the dream, as well as the grim reality of life and war.
