LLOYD ALMIGHTY: THE LYRICS

For anyone who was around in the late 80s and early 90s of the Manchester music and football scene, Lloyd Almighty were one of the gems of that era who had a dedicated following in the area, although that never transferred onto the national scale like James, The Inspiral Carpets, the Happy Mondays or Oasis did. Much is the pity, as their music and lyrics set them quite apart from the main “Madchester” bands. the power chord led trio filled venues like he Boardwalk, The Banshee, Jilly’s Rockworld, the Night & Day Cafe, the Roadhouse and tons of other venues up and down the country, and those fortunate enough to catch them often caught more than they bargained with, due to their finale, The Last Ride. What set this band and the rest apart was their lyrics: often filthy sometimes to the point of obscene. The crowd loved it.
